Set up your NFC tags
One sticker per spot. Write it once, then tap your phone to it whenever something runs low. You write the tags right inside the Tap Restock app, with no extra app needed.
Step by step
- Get the right tags. Buy NTAG213 or NTAG215 NFC stickers. They're cheap, work with every iPhone from the XS and most Android phones, and hold plenty of data. If you'll stick one on metal (a fridge door or a tin), choose "on-metal" tags.
- Open the tag writer. In Tap Restock, go to Settings and find the NFC tags section. Every hub is listed there.
- Write the tag. Tap the hub you want, then hold the top of your phone against the sticker until you feel a buzz. The row will say "Written" with the date.
- Stick it where you restock. Put it on the pantry door, the fridge, under the sink or by the nappy bin: wherever you notice you're running low.
- Tap to restock. Hold your phone to the tag any time. Tap Restock opens that hub, ready to add what's running out.
Tips
- Each tag opens one hub. Write a separate tag for each hub you want.
- To change a tag, just write it again. The new hub replaces the old one.
- Keep the sticker flat and away from other tags; stacked tags can interfere.
- On Android, make sure NFC is switched on in your phone's settings.
- If nothing happens, move the phone slowly over the sticker: the antenna is usually near the top back of the phone.
- Prefer ready-made? Pre-programmed tag sets are coming soon.
